On Monday, authorities announced that 30-year-old Samuel Robert Bajard, who has no known address, has been apprehended following a weeks-long investigation into an attempted burglary and carjacking earlier this month.

The incident was reported shortly before 4:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 9 in the 14100 block of Castle Boulevard.

According to the Montgomery County Department of Police, on the morning of the attempted burglary, Bajard and others attempted to force entry into an apartment by kicking the front door and throwing a rock through a window; however, the homeowner had other ideas, and was able to hold them off with bear spray.

As Bajard and the other unknown suspects were leaving the apartment complex, they assaulted the driver of a Toyota Camry who had just arrived home. The suspects stole the Toyota and left the area.

Bejard was later identified as one of the suspects, and a warrant for his arrest was issued on Monday, June 13, one week before he was arrested in Silver Spring, authorities announced on Monday.

He was charged with attempted burglary and carjacking-related offenses, police say.

Bejard is being held without bond.
